International Museum Day is celebrated on 18th May. International Museum Day was established in 1977 and always brings a different, more meaningful program for all ages. Since 1992, it has been defined that each year has a certain theme.

The theme of International Museum Day 2025 is "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities", and was chosen by the International Council of Museums to encourage museums around the world to reconsider their role in a society that is directly facing social, environmental and technological challenges. The goal is for museums to become active participants in establishing a sustainable future, to more strongly promote a culture of peace and dialogue, and to always keep their doors open for an inclusive exchange of ideas while preserving democracy.

The museum community in Belgrade has prepared a rich program. Some institutions started the celebration in early May.
