A symbolic way of marking the long existence of the museum and the work that curators do is summarized in the exhibition "Memory - Field Research of the Ethnographic Museum".

The basic idea is to present field research as a way in which museum collections are enriched. A curator at the Ethnographic Museum deals with the culture that people have inherited from their ancestors but live it as their own culture. One segment of the exhibition is dedicated to this activity and presents the curator's office, which represents the beginning and end of the research process.

Among the more interesting objects on display, the djurdija stands out, one of the most important ceremonial upper robes, made of local cloth and richly decorated. A horse saddle that until the end of the 19th century was a status symbol is a part of the exhibition that is not to be missed. Of particular interest is the distaff that accompanied a woman from birth to death.

"Memory - Field Research of the Ethnographic Museum" pays special attention to identity and continuous research in all areas where the Serbian people and Serbian heritage are found. The exhibition itself, in addition to exhibits that have been collected for more than a century, is enriched with modern technology and a guided tour through the exhibition is available via an application. A digital map provides a network of precise locations where objects were found, as well as additional information about the objects.
